Transgender
When Jim as well as Sasha Allen made it onto The Voice Live Shows, they were able to make history since Sasha was the first openly transgender performer on the NBC contest show to make it past the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons. This Newtown, Conn. duo has now made it to the Top 8 of the contest! Sasha announced his transgender status when he presented their audition package at the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com it was an easy choice. Sasha made the transition in highschool, and said that it was difficult to reveal such a vulnerable side of himself to individuals. "But [last week during the fan week], watching people's reactions to and support for the show and the way it affected the people showed this was a worthwhile decision and was the right choice, regardless of the fact that it was a hard one to make." "'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' is one that's been among the songs we've wanted to be a part of the show for a really long time," Sasha told Parade.com. "We used to play it before The Voice was even a thing for us. We received the song and we were ecstatic. The song was one we were familiar with; it was one we were already thinking of arrangements for. "I was pleasantly surprised at how the crowds nailed the song."
