Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, jazz and soul in the style that is his own. The singer's career has taken her from Broadway to European festivals and clubs up to the Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. Her birthplace is Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by singing and playing the piano in church. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical education began in Atlanta's R&B Scene. The debut song featuring her vocals was Stalk You which was a song from Japan's house 12; since then it has been remixed and a element of her set. Her voice was also featured in the music video for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, she was commissioned as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as Choral Director of Dreamgirls, the theatre production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to perform at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
